God of War 3 News & GoW3 Reviews

Our previous post reported speculation brewing about GoW1 and GoW2 on PS3 Bluray disks. Sony has now confirmed that both game titles will be now available on the Playstation 3. Fans can replay both God of War 1 & 2 in the awesomeness of PS3 at a price of $39.99.

Sony had once said Backward Compatibility on PS3 will no longer be supported, so these titles seem to have been ported onto the PS3. It all started when SCEA asked fans to fill in  a survey of what they would like in the Collector’s Edition and a lot of fans wanted GoW1 & 2. Porting a game to a different console is no easy work and its commendable that they were able to do it so quickly. The games are remastered, with trophies and run at 720p

However, as speculated God of War 3 demo wont come with the God of War Collection. Product Development Director for the SCEA, John Hight said to IGN in an interview that the God of War 3 Demo will take time and didn’t want it to hinder  the release of the God of War Collection.

The other bummer is that the God of War Collection wont release in Europe this year. No further information was revealed by SCEE on the delay.

Gamescom came and went away without any new news about God of War 3. It seemed that all was quiet in Santa Monica, but surprising news has come from Mexico. A person by the name of Marco Delgado who is supposedly the Product Manager for Sony Mexico let it out on his Twitter page, that a special God of War 3 pack is being released this December.

The God of War 3 special package will contain God of War, God of War II and God of War III Demo. If true, this will be awesome Christmas gift for all God of War 3 fans.

It was brought to our notice that some users were trying to search Google to find out if God of War 3 (GoW3) is available to play on Playstation 2 (PS2) consoles or Xbox 360 or on PCs.

The short answer is NO.

The long answer:
It is very difficult to port a game designed for one console to work on another. As in this case, God of War 3 has been developed exclusively for the PS3. The pixel size of Kratos himself has quadrapled to 20000 polygons. GoW2 on PS2 had Kratos with only 5000 polygons. PS2 wont be able to even process Kratos’ movements, let alone the Gods and Titans.

The other minor issue is the big war between PS3 vs Xbox. Sony is banking a lot on God of War fans to buy a PS3 just to play GoW3. Do you think they would release it for Microsoft’s PCs or Xbox 360s?

Consider the other side of the coin. Would Microsoft release Halo 3 or Gears of War 3 on PS3? Absolutely not.
Bottomline: GoW3 can be played ONLY on PS3. I know a lot of fans are disappointed that GoW3 on PS2 is not possible. But Hey! A look at the GoW3 Trailers justify just why Kratos in GoW3 looks so amazing! That’s the power of the Playstation 3.
